As I’m sure you’re very aware if you follow me on any form of social media, I’ve been a Jadelynn Brooke college rep since my freshman year at UF – 8 whole semesters! Rep applications for both college and high school are now open and will close Tuesday 8/2 so I wanted to tell a little about what it’s like to be a Jadelynn Brooke rep for those who may be interested in applying themselves. Pocket-Sized Disney Essentials
One of the absolute worst parts of going to Disney is the bag check. The lines are so long and crowded. Every time I go through bag check, I gaze longingly at the deserted Guests Without Bags gate that only boyfriends and dads ever seem to go through. I decided to do something about that and challenged myself to do a day at Disney without a bag – no purse, no backpack, not even a fanny pack. Continue reading
Moose’s 1st Birthday
We hit a milestone in our little family – Moose turned one whole year old on May 8, 2019! Because we’re crazy dog parents, we had not one, but two birthday parties for Moose’s special day. Continue reading
Dive into Reading
As you all know, I love to read. So when I heard about a mentor program called Dive into Reading through Anna Maria Oyster Bar where volunteers work with students on their manners and social skills, as well as their reading, I signed up immediately. I partook in the program as a mentor the summer of 2017 and just signed up to do it again this June! Here’s all the information you need in case you want to volunteer this summer too.
Dining Destinations: The Polynesian’s Kona Cafe
Breakfast at the Polynesian’s Kona Cafe has been on my Disney bucket list for years so when I was making reservations for my birthday weekend at Disney, Kona Cafe was the first thing I booked!
Disney in a Boot
I had the misfortune of breaking my foot two weeks before I was supposed to spend my birthday weekend at Disney, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me! In fact, I spent the Wednesday before my birthday weekend at Disney too. Thanks to Grandma’s wheelchair and some very generous people pushing me, I was able to enjoy Disney as if I were walking around instead of rolling. Continue reading
My Unconventional Path to Teaching
I didn’t come to the teaching profession in a conventional way. When I was little, my favorite thing to do was play school with my stuffed animals and all four of my grandparents were educators, but I never thought I would follow suit. Still, I always loved going to school and had incredible, inspiring teachers all throughout school. Continue reading
Run, Princess, Run!
My mom and I are not runners – at all. We actually hate running. However, it has been our goal to complete the Disney Princess 5K, 10K, and Half Marathons together at some point in our lives. The problem is, we missed the deadline to sign up every year for the past three years…accident or no? I’m not really sure. Continue reading
Italian Dressing
Before I get in to all the clothes I packed to spend a month in Italy, can we just appreciate the cleverness of the title for this post and the fact that I crack up laughing every time I read it or think about it?
Alright, now that that’s out of the way, I wanted to share with you one of the biggest struggles in prepping to spend a month in Italy – what to pack! Continue reading
Study Abroad Sickness
The first two weeks of study abroad were great, but week three hit everyone hard. It seemed like half our group got sick, including myself. Week four, everyone who wasn’t sick week three got sick from their friends/roommates who were sick the week before. It was awful being sick and having to miss out on some of the beauty of Italy so here’s a little of what I went through and some tips for being sick while traveling abroad. Continue reading
The Ruins and the Villain
In the same weekend, I toured the ruins of Pompeii and hiked to the summit of Mt. Vesuvius. I got to experience firsthand the destruction the volcano caused and then faced it head on, peering into its gaping crater. Continue reading
The Blue Grotto: Capri’s Hidden Treasure
I may have been sick our whole weekend in Sorrento and Capri, but one thing I didn’t miss out on was our excursion into the Blue Grotto, which is famous for only being accessible during peak conditions of low tides and calm seas. Continue reading
