Pocket-Sized Disney Essentials

One of the absolute worst parts of going to Disney is the bag check. The lines are so long and crowded. Every time I go through bag check, I gaze longingly at the deserted Guests Without Bags gate that only boyfriends and dads ever seem to go through. I decided to do something about that and challenged myself to do a day at Disney without a bag – no purse, no backpack, not even a fanny pack. I went to Disney with nothing but a coin purse in my back pocket.

I wanted to share how easy it can be to take a weight off your back at Disney. No bag check line, no sweaty backpack back, no taking your bag off anytime you have to get on the ride. It’s packing for Disney – simplified.

Here’s what I packed in my coin purse:

Hair clips and a hair tie – Even though I already had my hair in braids, I always bring hair ties and clips everywhere I go and today was no different. You never know when it’ll come in handy.

Passholder card – Obviously a necessity when going to Disney as a Passholder. The key to allllll the discounts.

Driver’s license – This Disney trip I was going to Epcot. While you should always have your ID on you everywhere you go, when drinking around the world, it’s indispensable.

Debit/credit cards – Obviously I was going to need these to snack and drink around the world. I like to have two cards just in case something happens to one of them.

Chapstick with SPF – I applied sunscreen before heading into the park on this summer day, but chapstick wears off so quickly, especially when eating a bunch of yummy Epcot snacks. Make sure your chapstick has SPF and you’ll be set for a hot day!

Tylenol – Anyone who knows me knows I don’t go anywhere without Tylenol. The headaches are REAL. I typically have a little travel size Tylenol container, but for this day I just threw two Tylenol in the coin pouch knowing I wouldn’t need more than that for the day.

Lactaid – Just keeping it real! I love cheese and all things dairy, but they do not love me. I carry Lactaid on me everywhere I go for when I want to eat any dairy. Knowing how many treats there are at Epcot (including the best pizza EVER), I knew I had to bring at least two sets for the day.

Believe it or not, I didn’t even use most of what I brought! However, I felt prepared for anything that may have come up. I think next time I may add a couple band-aids just in case since they won’t take up much room.

It was SO NICE not having to worry about any bag in the park. Deep pockets are a necessity for this to work and luckily the denim shorts I wore had deep back pockets. I would occasionally check to make sure it was still there, but that was just be being paranoid.

I will say, this works best if you’re going to Disney by yourself or just with friends. If you’re a mom going to Disney with your kid, obviously you won’t be able to fit everything you need in a coin purse, but if you can pull it off, I would definitely recommend it.

I felt so free walking straight through the Guests Without Bags gate with no one to stop me!

I always love the challenge of trying to carry as little as possible everywhere I go! Now my daughter is big enough to carry her own little bag so I don’t have to! Thanks for sharing this with us 🙂
