Moose’s 1st Birthday

We hit a milestone in our little family – Moose turned one whole year old on May 8, 2019! Because we’re crazy dog parents, we had not one, but two birthday parties for Moose’s special day.

When we woke up, we sang Happy Birthday and Sto Lat, Happy Birthday in Polish – a family tradition, to Moose and he felt very special. I had to work on Moose’s birthday, but Jared took him to work like he always does so he got lots of love and happy birthday wishes from his dog and human work friends.

During Jared’s lunch break, he took Moose to DOGPerfect for a little birthday shopping. He got him some toys, dog donuts, and dog beer (chicken and beef broth in beer bottles) and Moose even got to pick out a free toy since it was his birthday.

After work, we went to 3 Keys Brewing for his birthday dinner since dogs are welcome on the porch outside. It’s a really nice sitting area. It was hot, but worth sitting outside so Moose could be there.

We met my mom and dad and grandparents at 3 Keys and they all showed up with presents in hand. Ryan even bought Moose a birthday present on Amazon and had it shipped to my mom’s house for her to give him since he was still in Gainesville and couldn’t be there to celebrate.

He got some toys to play with and some yummy treats. Grandma made Moose a birthday bandana so he would feel extra special and everyone would know it was his birthday.

My mom brought Moose a little cup of ice cream to eat as a special birthday treat and put a #1 candle in it. We all sang to him and he wolfed down his ice cream so quickly.

That weekend, we planned to have a party at our apartment complex’s dog park with all his neighbor friends, but the recent rain made a huge mud pit in the center of the park. We postponed the party until the next weekend and we were finally able to celebrate.

I got mini cupcakes from Publix for the humans and baked pumpkin dog cupcakes for all the pups. I got a box mix from DOGPerfect that was super easy to make and even came with icing.

Moose had about 10 friends playing with him at the dog park and everyone got along so well. He had a blast and was so worn out after a couple hours!

As the dogs left, each of them got a cupcake and their humans got one too. They were a big hit and the pups seemed to love them!

Moose’s first birthday was one for the books. He was surrounded by everyone who loves him to celebrate his big day. Does this mean we have to top it and do three parties next year?
