Hawaiian Honeymoon | Maui | Day 6

It’s hard to believe, but today we flew to our last island of the trip – Maui! We’ve heard that it’s one of the most beautiful islands so we were excited to experience it for ourselves!

We flew from Kauai to Maui in the morning on another super quick 30-minute flight. Today only we were staying at Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We had a great room with the most incredible ocean view I’ve ever seen! It was directly overlooking Kaanapali Beach, which has the brightest blue, crystal clear water. The hotel room itself was pretty outdated, which wasn’t a problem. However, it was very warm in our room even with the air turned all the way down.

We got lunch at the restaurant at the hotel, which also overlooked the water and was open air. The food was just OK. I tried poke (raw fish) for the first time and wasn’t exactly a fan of it.

We rested during the afternoon and Jared did some laundry. Then, we got ready for our luau!

We booked the Maui Nui Black Rock luau at the Sheraton just down the beach from our hotel. We were able to walk from our resort to the luau along the beach.

For anyone planning on going to Hawaii in the next year or so, take my advice and BOOK YOUR LUAU NOW! I booked everything a few months out for our trip and all, but one luau was completely sold out. This is partially due to limited capacity from Covid. These luaus book out months in advance, so heed my advice and book ASAP! I got really lucky booking this one.

We were gifted kukui nut leis upon arrival and were told the open bar was open for service. We got some drinks and waited for everyone else to file in. It was very warm, but they passed out paper fans, which helped. You could definitely tell who was from the colder states by how people reacted to the heat. There were people covering the back of their necks with their napkins to not get burnt!

Because of Covid, each group had their own table. We had a great view of the stage, but Jared and I thought it would have been fun to be seated family style with other couples, as well. Dinner was served buffet style with the employees dishing out whatever you wanted.

The food was delicious and there was such a variety. We had pork, chicken, chow mien, fried rice, purple sweet potatoes, and steak. They also passed around a trio dessert plate.

The luau show was very well done and had so many different performances. There was even a world champion fire dancer! We all learned a common hula and then the men and women each had their chance to show off their moves with gender-specific hulas. Jared had some moves! At the end of the show they recognized all the couples celebrating that evening with a slow dance.

Tomorrow, we have an entirely free day in Maui and we’re looking forward to soaking in all the beauty and sunshine it has to offer!
