One Second Every Day 2020

2020 was, in short, a shitshow. Am I right? However, at least for me personally, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, in reviewing my year through my One Second a Day video from 2020, I have to acknowledge that my 2020 was pretty dang great. I coached my first winter guard season for Parrish Community High, we went to Nashville, I got engaged, Jared and I bought a house, I spent a summer in the Keys with my parents and our dogs, I got my first teaching job with the absolute best group of kids, we went to almost every home Gator game, I reached the 250 club in Pure Barre, I became TikTok famous (follow me @sammyraejohnson), and I got to do all the wedding festivities a bride not in the middle of a pandemic would get to do surrounded by people who love me. Heck, I even got to go to Disney a few times!

All that being said, I also acknowledge that this year has been so hard for so many people and our year did not come without challenges. COVID caused a lot of hiccups in wedding planning, including most of my family not being able to attend the wedding itself; MANY delays in our house-buying process that more often than not ended in tears; very few teaching positions open and not knowing what this school year was going to look like and things at school changing constantly; and Jared and I both testing positive for COVID, resulting in missing Thanksgiving with our families.

Regardless, I still managed to capture one second of every day in 2020. Honestly, thank god for TikTok. Usually I start getting lazy about doing one second a day in the second half of the year, but this year I created a TikTok account in July and have been filming content for it almost daily since. I am definitely not short on videos that’s for sure.

I hope you enjoy my One Second a Day video from this year. I used the 1SE app on my phone to make it. It’s easy to use and produces a great summary of my life each year. Here’s to 2021 being the best year yet, regardless of what it holds!
