3 Months ’til the Wedding

We are getting down to the wire folks! It’s getting real! If you haven’t already, check out my blog posts about wedding planning through the rest of our engagement before reading on to see what we did this past month.

Prepare for Bridal Shower

My mom and I got together at the beginning of the month to start planning and organizing ourselves for the bridal shower that will take place at the beginning of November. We’re so busy we wanted to make sure we were on top of things (and luckily my mom is, because me…not so much). We made some decor and planned out how we would use the space at her house for everything. It gave us a good idea of what we needed to get done the rest of the month before the shower.

Order Flower Girl Baskets & Petals

I looked for flower girl baskets at Michael’s and found some, but they were all so expensive! While at Michael’s I checked Amazon to compare prices and realized it would be much cheaper to buy them on Amazon so I ordered them right then and there. These are the baskets I got. I did buy the fake petals for the flower girls to throw while I was at Michael’s.

Groomsmen Fittings

We got (almost) all the groomsmen together on a Sunday to do their suit fittings together and decided to make a day of it by doing brunch beforehand. It was a fun way for everyone to hang out (and for me to make sure everyone got fitted properly). We’re using Men’s Warehouse for the suits and they’ve been great to work with so far!

Order Sparklers

We’re doing a sparkler exit at the end of the wedding. I know it’s basic, but the pictures always turn out so dang cute! I didn’t realize how many size options there were for sparklers so I asked one of my bridesmaids Ashton what she used for her wedding because hers were perfect. She recommended the website Love Wedding Sparklers and the 36″ length. I ordered them in advance so it’s one less thing I have to worry about as the wedding gets closer and closer.

Prepare for the Bachelorette Weekend

Similarly to the bridal shower, this month I started getting everything together for the bachelorette weekend at Epcot that will take place mid-December. What can I say – I thrive on being prepared. I got everything I need for the bridesmaids’ “goody bags” for the weekend. I’m making us all matching shirts for drinking around the world (again, basic but so dang cute) so I ordered all the shirts and can start making those when I get a chance. I also made dinner reservations for both nights we’ll be in Orlando and created a sort of itinerary. Of course with a bachelorette weekend itinerary also comes coordinating outfits so I consulted Ashlynn and my mom to figure those out as well. I may or may not be more excited about the bachelorette trip than the actual wedding (shh don’t tell Jared)!

Miscellaneous Target/Michael’s Purchases

All throughout the month I’ve spotted different wedding-related items at Michael’s and Target while I’m running errands and have picked them up for various wedding events. Whether it’ a “Mrs.” sign for my chair at the bridal shower, a cute bridal banner for photos, or various signage for the wedding. I’ve even been able to find some great wedding deals at the Target dollar spot!

Order RSVP Cards

When I ordered my invitations, I chose to wait on ordering coordinating RSVP cards. My thought was that a lot of people would RSVP for the wedding in advance on the website and then I could save money and not have to order quite as many RSVP cards. In reality, COVID has kind of thrown a wrench in that plan since a lot of people are coming from out of state and are still unsure whether or not they’ll be able to attend the wedding. Of course I completely understand and went ahead and ordered the RSVP cards so I can get the invitations out soon. Expect one in your mailbox in the next few weeks!

With that being said, please feel free to RSVP to our various wedding weekend events on our wedding website zola.com/wedding/sammyandjared!

    Sammy, you are remarkable.
When Lew and I got married in 1963 it was a bit different. Met him at SPHS where I was teaching math in September. He asked me at the end of November. Wedding on February 16.
It has lasted 57 years so far.
    Love Ruth
