A few months ago Jared and I planned to go to Disney the last weekend our Silver annual passes were active before summer. Last minute, Jared had to work, but I still really wanted to take advantage of the passes before they were blocked out for three months so I did something I’ve wanted to do for awhile, I went to Disney by myself.
Going to Disney on my own was so different and I had so much fun doing things I normally wouldn’t do if I were with other people. Here’s a few of the great things (and some not so great things) that happened during my solo trip to Magic Kingdom.
I went to seven character meet and greets.

I bought a pair of plain white canvas Toms and have been wanting to get all the characters to sign them and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I even sat and waited at the front of the line for about 20 minutes to meet Peter Pan because I caught him just as he was leaving. It was nice being by myself because there was no one saying they didn’t want to wait around for a character. I was able to meet Mary Poppins, Ariel, Peter Pan, Anastasia and Drizella, Tiana, Rapunzel and Tinkerbell. Check out my Disney Character Interactions Ranked post to see what I thought of each meet and greet.
I did some pin shopping.
The entire time I was at Magic Kingdom, I only rode one ride, Thunder Mountain. I used all my Fastpasses for meet and greets and didn’t want to waste time waiting in line for rides. Aside from meeting a bunch of characters, I also took the opportunity to browse all the pin collections I came across. I bought four pins on my trip and I can’t wait to show them off!

I could pee as often as I wanted.
Jared always gets annoyed with me for having to go to the bathroom so often. I never want to be caught in a long line for a ride and then realize I have to pee really badly, so I try to make frequent stops anytime I come across a bathroom. One of the best parts of this solo trip was that no one was (not so) patiently waiting for me every time I wanted to use the bathroom.
I watched the parade.
Jared and I typically take advantage of the short ride lines during the parade and fireworks shows, but on this solo trip, I decided to sit down and enjoy the parade since I hadn’t seen it in years. I was so entranced by the parade the entire time. The floats were absolutely incredible and I couldn’t believe my eyes when the Sleeping Beauty dragon went by me. The parade was so much better than I had remembered and I was so happy I chose to stay and watch it even if I did feel like I might die of a heat stroke during it. Gotta love Florida!
I spontaneously saw the Dapper Dans.
I can’t remember ever seeing the Dapper Dans show and as I was leaving the park, I stumbled across them just as they were starting and decided to stay and watch. At that
point it was 4 o’clock and I had planned to leave around 3:30, but without anyone with me holding me to a schedule, I took the opportunity to take in the show and let me tell you, I did not regret it. I loved everything about the show and even stayed to talk to the Dapper Dans and get a selfie afterward. They even singled me out during one of their songs!
I got two free churros!
This had nothing to do with going to Disney by myself, but it
was so magical that I have to share anyway. I chose my “Main St. and Churros” ears for this Disney trip and stopped for a churro on my way through Frontierland. I ordered one churro and the cast member working the cash register said, “Are those churros on your ears?!” I had forgotten I was even wearing my churro ears and said yes. Her and the other two cast members working the churro stand got so excited about my ears that they surprised me with two free churros! I could barely contain my excitement because churros are by far my favorite Disney treat. You can bet I scarfed down all three in no time.
I got bored in long lines.
Without someone to talk to, long lines seem even longer. I ended up making small talk with people around me in some of the lines, especially parents who liked my idea of characters signing shoes, but it wasn’t the same. I tried to stay off my phone so my battery wouldn’t die, but it was harder than I thought.
I didn’t have anyone to people watch with.
I could sit at Disney and just people watch for hours. Even as I’m just walking around the park, there are so many things I want to comment on, but when I was there by myself, I had no one to comment with. I did take in a lot more of my surroundings without someone there with me, but then when I noticed something cool, I had no one to point it out to and had to enjoy it by myself.
All in all, I would highly recommend everyone take a trip to Disney on their own at least once in your life. I would do it again in a heartbeat because I got to experience Disney my way, without any influence from anyone else’s opinions. In the end though, I do think Disney is best experienced with someone to share it with.
What I Wore:
My “I’m done adulting, where’s Disney?” tank is from Mouse Apparel.
My Main St. and Churros ears are from To Never Neverland.
My “Never too old for meet & greets” pin is from Happily Ever Tees.
My white canvas shoes are Toms.

Loved this post! I would love to have had the attitude or maybe I should say courage to do Disney by myself when I was young! Sounds like you had a great time!
