This year was a great year for reading (mostly thanks to BookTok on TikTok). I went hard in the romance category (cartoon covers or bust), but managed to also get some historical fiction, dystopian, a classic, mythology, and a memoir in there. I surpassed my reading goal of 24 books ending the year having read 33 books. I also consistently rated each book I read this year, which was new for me. I even have a new favorite book EVER after this year. Previously it was Looking For Alaska. Keep reading to find out what it is now!

Books I Read in 2021
My goal this year was to read 24 books (2 a month) and I ended up reading 30 books! This year brought the most diverse genre selections yet. I definitely branched out of my typical realistic fiction/chick lit comfort zone. This year’s reads included mythology, fantasy, romance, classics, and historical fiction to name a few.

Every year I come up with a set of goals I want to achieve over the course of the coming year. I prefer the term goals to resolutions because it seems more achievable. Each goal I set for myself is specific and measurable, so by the time New Years Eve 2021 rolls around, I can evaluate whether I met them or not. Here’s a review of whether I met my 2020 New Year’s Goals and what I plan to achieve in 2021.

I’m big on goal setting – it’s the enneagram Type 3 in me (No clue what I’m talking about? Take the quiz and find out what type you are). So naturally, I really get into the goal-setting mood as January 1st approaches. I decided to share the goals I set (I prefer goals to resolutions) at the start of 2019 and whether or not I achieved them. At the end I included my goals for 2020 – tbd on what I actually manage to achieve this coming year! Continue reading
Dive into Reading
As you all know, I love to read. So when I heard about a mentor program called Dive into Reading through Anna Maria Oyster Bar where volunteers work with students on their manners and social skills, as well as their reading, I signed up immediately. I partook in the program as a mentor the summer of 2017 and just signed up to do it again this June! Here’s all the information you need in case you want to volunteer this summer too.
Books I Read in 2017
I set a goal on Goodreads (I use the app) to read 40 books in 2017. I have to be clear that although I say “read,” I include books I listen to as audiobooks while I’m driving, which make up a good chunk of this list. I increased my goal from 40 to 42 because I read 2 really short novellas and didn’t want that to make my yearly goal easier to achieve. I accomplished the goal of 42 books on November 1 and read 3 more books after that to bring it to a grand total of 45. So here, from January to December, are the books I read/listened to in 2017.
