The best part of summer coming to an end is that college football is right around the corner! I’ve been a season ticket holder for Gator football games since the day I was born, so I’ve been to quite a few game days. One of my favorite parts of Saturdays in the fall is picking out the perfect game day outfit to show my school spirit! Here are a few of my favorites for any type of football game you may go to.
Noon Games
The dreaded noon game (especially in Florida)! It can be November and a noon game in Florida is still going to be sweltering. For these games, it’s best to stick to light colors and fabrics and wear something that won’t show sweat too badly. A solid color dress or romper may look cute before you leave the house, but won’t look so great by 1 o’clock when you’re dripping sweat and the back of your outfit is soaked. Instead, go for a printed dress or romper. I like to opt for shorts and a tank or crop top for these hottest games of the season.

This white, cutout tank from Charley’s Boutique and denim cutoff shorts from American Eagle are the perfect way to beat the heat and keep up the spirit. Don’t forget your sunglasses so you’re not squinting the whole game. My Quay sunglasses are my all-time faves! I also paired this outfit with my Jadelynn Brooke clear, stadium-approved bag that I personalized with a Lilly Florida decal!

Game day pro tip: white shorts don’t show sweat! When in doubt, wear white shorts.
Afternoon Games
Afternoon games are great because they have the most versatility. It’s still hot out, but not sweltering like a noon game and you don’t have to worry about the weather getting too cool at night. Pretty much anything goes for an afternoon game – dresses, rompers, shorts, skirts, solid colors, prints, etc. You name it, it works for an afternoon game, although I still wouldn’t recommend jeans. Save those for the night games.

This top and these shorts from Old Navy was the perfect afternoon game outfit!

This orange and blue dress from Charley’s Boutique kept me cool and looking cute!

This romper from Charlotte Russe is a game day go-to for me because it’s comfy, keeps me cool, and won’t show sweat at all!
Night Games/Late-Season Games

I had been waiting all season to wear this Tebow jersey outfit, but I knew it had to be just the right weather. If it was too windy, the air would go straight through the jersey material, but if it was too hot, I’d be dying in my black leggings. The perfect time came during the last game of the season, an afternoon game. The weather was cool all day and this was the perfect outfit!

I took advantage of the first night game of the season last year to wear this adorable orange romper from Charley’s Boutique. It kept me cool through a long day of tailgating and I wasn’t taking a risk on the solid color because I knew I wouldn’t be sweating during the game. Paired with my cowboy boots it made the perfect all-day game day outfit.

Later in the football season, it can be chilly even for afternoon games. I like to layer a denim jacket over a long sleeve shirt so I can put my jacket on when it gets a little colder as the sun goes down.
Rainy Games
This may not be something most people encounter during college football season, but if you’re in Florida it’s going to rain about half of football season. Sometimes it’s predictable, other times it comes out of nowhere. The best you can do is always be prepared.
My advice for rainy games is to bring a poncho and a washcloth. The poncho will keep you dry and you can use the washcloth to wipe the water off your seat when it stops raining. No one wants a huge wet spot on their butt form sitting in a rainy seat!

You may have noticed I’m wearing my cowboy boots in basically every picture. That’s because they are the ULTIMATE game day shoe, especially if you’re in the south. Not only are they comfortable for the walk to and from the stadium, but cowboy boots can tackle anything. Beer spilled? Doesn’t bother cowboy boots. Puddle of a questionable substance? Walk right through it in cowboy boots. Don’t want to carry your ID or phone? Put them in your cowboy boots. Plus, they match almost any game day outfit. You can’t go wrong!
