I’m a big fan of bucket lists because I think it’s important to set goals and write them down to keep yourself accountable. It should come as no surprise that a lot of the items on my bucket list involve traveling. Here are some of my top traveling bucket list items.
Visit all 50 states.
This is a big one for me. I have been to 48 of the 50 states so far and only Alaska and Hawaii are left on my list.
Stay in NYC from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve.
New York City is my favorite place I’ve been in the U.S. It has always been a dream of mine to see all the holiday festivities in New York between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve in person. This includes:
- Watch the Thanksgiving parade balloons blown up the night before the parade.
- Experience the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in person.
- See the Rockettes’ Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.
- Go to the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
- Watch the ball drop from Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
Swim* in the Great Barrier Reef.
My family plans to travel to Australia in the next few years and although swimming in shark (and who knows what else) infested waters terrifies me, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I won’t miss out on. *By swim I mean jump in the water and get right back on the boat.
Take my children to Poland.
I’m 50% Polish, which means my children will be (at least) 25% Polish. I loved visiting Poland and learning about my heritage, and I want to give my children the same opportunity. Experiencing Poland with my mom made the trip that much more special.
See Loch Ness (and search for the Loch Ness monster).
The Loch Ness monster is one of the few mythical creatures I like to believe is real, even if it’s nearly impossible. Scotland is definitely a country I want to visit and it wouldn’t be complete without staking out to find the elusive monster.
Find the “The Fault in Our Stars” bench in Amsterdam.
I’m a huge bookworm and “The Fault in Our Stars” is one of my favorite books, so sitting on the bench in Amsterdam from the movie is a must! I would love to experience the Anne Frank House they visited in the book too.
Go to Disneyland Paris.
It’s no surprise I love Disney, so of course Disneyland Paris is on my bucket list. I’ve been to Disneyland in California and Disney World in Orlando and Paris is next on the list.
See Europe on a European cruise.
Cruising is my favorite way to travel and I think a European cruise would be a great way to maximize the number of countries I can visit in just a few weeks. Jared and I found a Royal Caribbean cruise that goes to the Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland and England that we really want to go on. (BONUS: it goes to Loch Ness and Amsterdam. It’s the perfect way to check some items off my bucket list).
